What is Sculptra®?

Sculptra is not a filler but a biostimulator that activates collagen production in the skin. As we age, the loss of collagen weakens the skin’s structure, elasticity, and moisture retention, which leads to sagging, wrinkles, lines, and creases. Sculptra supports collagen rebuilding, keeping the skin firm and supple. Its active ingredient, poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), is the first collagen stimulator that restores fullness to the skin and smooths out lines. This treatment is particularly suitable for those over 35 who want to maintain skin firmness and tightness. Sculptra is most beneficial for those with sagging skin, drooping, or lines.

Recovery Time

Recovery from Sculptra® injections is quick, making it ideal for a lunchtime treatment. However, as with any injection, be prepared for potential mild swelling, redness, and bruising.

Maintaining Results

Klinik Linnea recommends a personalized treatment plan with 2–3 sessions for optimal results, depending on your initial condition. Treatments should be spaced 4-6 weeks apart. The results last up to 25 months.

How should I prepare for the treatment?

We recommend eating before your appointment and coming in without makeup. To avoid increasing bruising and bleeding sensitivity, do not take anti-inflammatory medications (e.g., Burana) three days before the treatment, and avoid natural supplements (e.g., Omega-3, Vitamin E) for a week before. If you need pain relief, we recommend taking paracetamol. We will send you an electronic pre-treatment form before your appointment, which you should fill out before arriving for your treatment.

What is included in the treatment?

The treatment includes a consultation for the Sculptra injection, skin cleansing, the procedure itself, aftercare cream, aftercare instructions, and a relaxing and restorative moment at Klinik Linnea.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment takes approximately 60 minutes.

Is there pain during treatment?

There is no pain or only mild discomfort. We use lidocaine anesthesia as part of the Sculptra dilution (it is also available without it). We can also apply numbing cream to the treatment area if needed. Applying cold to the treatment area during the procedure also helps to alleviate any discomfort.

What are the typical reactions after the treatment?

Recovery is quick, so there is no need for a long recovery period. However, as with any injection, mild tenderness, swelling, slight redness, and bruising may occur for a few days.

What are the aftercare instructions?

After the Sculptra treatment, you should massage your face for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days to achieve the best results. More detailed aftercare instructions will be provided during your treatment. On the treatment day, avoid touching the treated area and ensure you maintain excellent hygiene in the treated area. For the next 2 days, avoid heavy physical exertion, sauna use, sweating, and direct UV exposure. Additionally, for the following 2 days, avoid other facial treatments, facial massages, and any oral or facial procedures. Do not apply cosmetics to the treated area during the first 24 hours due to the risk of infection. Klinik Linnea recommends using SPF50 sunscreen year-round.
