In the summer, I want my skin to look as fresh, radiant, and healthy as possible without heavy makeup. For me, summer skin means, above all, a healthy glow, an even skin tone, and hydrated skin that looks well-rested even amid the hustle and bustle of summer and travel.
As an aesthetic nurse and cosmetologist, I know that summer puts a completely different strain on the skin than winter does. The sun easily causes pigmentation changes and inflammation, heat and sweating can clog pores, air conditioning dries out the skin, and travel takes a toll on the skin’s surface. In addition, stress, sleep, and diet always affect the skin as well, because the skin is not a separate part of us but reflects the well-being of the entire body.
That’s why I start my “skin prep” well in advance of summer. This June, I’m heading to Rhodes for a friend’s wedding, so I’ve been focusing on my skin since the beginning of the year. I’ve been doing a series of SkinPen microneedling treatments, and next up are my favorite summer treatments: Profhilo, Botox, and HydraFacial. I know that with these treatments, my skin will look fresh, smooth, and radiant all summer long.
Definitely one of my favorite treatments. After every session, it feels like “a pound has been lifted from my face.” My skin feels refreshed and brighter.
This treatment is the perfect way to revitalize your skin. Before a trip, it gives the skin a gorgeous glow, and makeup applies beautifully; after the trip, the treatment helps restore the skin’s balance following sun exposure, air travel, and air conditioning.
Another favorite treatment of mine is Profhilo. If I had to choose one treatment to bring radiance and vitality to the skin, I would choose this one.
Profhilo hydrates the skin from within and improves skin quality. You can never have too much moisture. When the skin is properly hydrated, it looks rested, brighter, and healthier. That’s exactly how I want my summer skin to look.
My third summer favorite is Botox. I have a strong muscle between my eyebrows that activates especially when I squint in the sunlight. Botox has helped smooth out my frown line, and at the same time, my whole expression has become more refreshed.
Botox has also helped me with muscle tension and recurring headaches, which has been a huge plus for me.
Many people also don’t know that Botox can effectively treat overactive sebum production. For example, in mesobotox, a small amount of botulinum toxin is mixed into a mesotherapy solution and gently injected under the skin. The treatment helps control oiliness, reduces pore size, and makes the skin’s surface smoother.
What should you do in the summer, and what should you avoid?
Summer is actually an excellent time for injectable treatments, as they don’t require a long recovery period and the results are visible quickly. For example, Profhilo and Botox are perfect for summer.
On the other hand, you should think twice before getting intense device treatments and aggressive chemical peels in the summer, especially if your skin is exposed to a lot of sun.
In the summer, you should focus on hydration and radiance. Gentle exfoliation helps keep the skin bright and prevents dullness from building up. You need to make sure you’re drinking enough water and getting enough rest, because these factors show up in your skin surprisingly quickly.
Ultimately, the most important secret to summer skin isn’t a single treatment, but the whole package.
Personally, I believe the best results come from long-term care that listens to the skin’s needs. Don’t try to fix everything at once. With the right treatments and home care, you can make a truly significant difference in your skin’s overall appearance.
In the summer, I want to look fresh and well-rested above all else, and that’s exactly what my favorite treatments help me achieve year after year.
Perhaps my most important tip is to focus on skin quality, not on covering it up. When your skin glows naturally, your confidence shines through in a whole new way!
